FAQ'S

What do I need to do to prepare my music for mastering?

It is best to try to provide your mixed track with no compression, reverb or stereo widening on the stereo master.  Also, make sure your track is at least -3db to provide room for compression, enhancement etc, during the mastering process.  For more info please visit our checklist page.

How do I send my audio files to High Fidelity Studios for mastering/post-production?

You can send up to 2 GB files via our FTP service.  This is the quickest way to get your material to us. We will provide you with upload instructions once we have discussed your project.  You may also send your material via physical mail. Click here to see our mailing address.

I have one short audio clip for a video project that needs some cleaning up.  Will you work on this small of a project?

YES!  We specialize in offering budget minded audio post production.  Cost is generally per hour (see our rates page) with a half hour minimum, but we can work with you on any size project/budget.  Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Can you layback my songs to analog without having full mastering done?

Sure, if you would like us to layback your tracks to analog and do no further mastering the cost is the same as listed on our rates page with an additional $50 setup fee.

Can High Fidelity Studios Master a 80 minute CD-R?

Yes, for an additional $50 fee we will master your 80 minute CD.  That said, we highly suggest you avoid using track list over 74 minutes in length.  If you choose to purchase the physical return of your media, we cannot guarantee that your CD will be acceptable for duplication if it runs over Red book standard.

When is payment for a project due?

We generally ask for payment in full up front for audio mastering projects.  For post production projects payment is due in full upon receipt of final approved audio.  We understand each project and budgeting is different, contact us and we can discuss a flexible plan that suits your specific needs.

Should I send High Fidelity Studios my original masters for transfers?

To put it simply, NO!  We ask that any format of audio you send us for transfers or anything else for that matter NOT be your original or only copy!  We cannot take any responsibility for mishaps in shipping, equipment failure etc.  Please make sure you send us a COPY!

What is High Fidelity Studios average turn around time?

For Audio mastering, we try to have your project returned for review within 7 business days.  For other type projects, it really varies based on the project itself.  If you need your project expedited, contact us for more info. (A rush fee may apply)

Can I send an MP3 file for High Fidelity Studios to master?

No, we highly discourage sending MP3 files for mastering!  There is a growing trend of other "online mastering" studios offering cheap MP3 mastering.  To much of the full range has been lost in compression to use as a source to master, dare I say I would seriously question any "Mastering" studio that does "MP3" mastering!

What kind of payments do you accept?

We accept major credit cards through paypal.  We also accept certified checks, money orders & cash.
